A New Beginning With the Missouri GED

It is never too late for any good thing to be done; so is getting educated. Around one-fifth of the people in Missouri do not own a high school diploma or any degree, for that matter. In the current flooding of opportunities for employment, it could be hard to survive without a proper degree. One ultimate solution for such an issue is the General Educational Development (GED), available in Missouri that can be acquired by anyone above 16 years.

According to the department of secondary and elementary education of Missouri, they provide an opportunity to anyone who missed out in obtaining their school degree and are in need of a valid substitute. The testing of the candidate is based on five main divisions: mathematics, arts, science, social studies and writing. The arts include reading ability of the applied candidate and writing skill is tested by asking them to write an essay for 200 words. The whole examination takes seven hours to complete. It is also to be noted that the state does not offer online and correspondence services to award the GED certificate.

The procedure takes some steps for the applicant to complete successfully. The first step for the candidates is to get an application form which can be downloaded from a website or may be obtained from guidance offices and public libraries. After filling out the form, the application for Missouri certificate of high school equivalence needs to submit to the authorities along with a $20.00 money order. The officials will get back to the candidate with the list of available adult education centers.

After selecting the nearest center, the candidate needs to fill up a GED demographic form and can take a GED practice test. Finally to take the authentic exam, it is required to have the approved GED application, $20 in cash or money order, the demographic form and a Missouri Id. You can either present a driver’s license or just the license number as your identification.

The public libraries in Missouri provide plenty of GED preparation materials although there is no particular format for the preparation. There are plenty of materials that can be found from internet resources. These are some of the ways of self preparation and they are worthless if there is lack of dedication and hard work. There is also another option, to attend adult education centers of the Missouri department of elementary and secondary education. They provide classes for people to get prepared for the GED tests to be taken. Using the internet to prepare for GED tests is also advisable as it’s the easiest way to gain access to available GED materials. To pass a test, the general criterion is that the candidate must not get points below 450; which is an average in all subjects. So a minimum of 2250 has to be acquired by the test attending candidate. The Missouri GED is considered by more than 90% of the US employers to recruit employees for their companies. It is equivalent to a High School Diploma and this may be the best opportunity for the locals of Missouri to establish themselves.
